At the 3rd Opportunities and Challenges of Amorphous Alloy Materials in the Development of Power Electronics Industry held recently, Zhang Hua, Secretary General of the Amorphous Alloy Materials Application Branch of China Electrical Equipment Industry Association, introduced the current development status of amorphous alloy soft magnetic materials industry. At present, the development of amorphous alloy soft magnetic materials industry presents the following four characteristics.
The amorphous strips is increasing rapidly. According to statistics, in 2021, my country's iron-based amorphous strip output was 68,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 28.3%; in 2022, my country's iron-based amorphous strip output was 91,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 33.8%. In 2023, my country's iron-based amorphous strip output was 117,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 28.6%.
The quality of amorphous products has been greatly improved, especially the performance of amorphous pressure strips. Nanocrystalline alloy strips prepared by pressure have been recognized by the market for their stable quality and good consistency, and have an overwhelming advantage in various mutual inductors, electronic transformers and other markets.
"Multi-form" demand emerges, mainly manifested in the market of strip materials, followed by powder materials, and wire and block materials. In terms of strip materials, the demand for amorphous strip materials in the fields of distribution transformers, new energy vehicles, etc. is stable and has formed a scale. In terms of powder materials, amorphous alloy powders are often used in inductive magnetic components. Currently, the application potential in coatings, 3D printing, catalysis and other fields is being explored, and the prospects are broad. In terms of wire and block materials, amorphous wires are mainly used for high-sensitivity, high-precision weak magnetic and micro-stress detection, and amorphous block structural parts are mainly used in consumer electronics, medical, aerospace and other fields.
Competition is fierce, and the fittest will survive. In the absence of talent, equipment, technology, and application research, some domestic companies blindly invest to seize the opportunity, resulting in a large gap between the stability, consistency, and reliability of some amorphous products and those of companies with accumulated technology. The scale of amorphous materials has become a development trend, customization has become a unique skill, and order-based production has become the basic foundation for survival.
